Domain Name Provider Go Daddy Tops List of SSL Certificate Providers
Go Daddy has topped the monthly listings for providing SSL certificates for the 37th time in the last 55 months. Following the distribution of around 7,000 certificates this month Go Daddy will sit top of the table according to Netcraft's latest Secure Server Survey. SSL Certificates are used to protect websites' information through the encryption of data, making it a vital component for many websites. Over the last two years, they have grown in popularity and have been recognized as a fundamental feature of a secure website. Schools, banks and online stores, to name a few, have all adopted the certificates in order to protect their personal information, and Go Daddy CEO Warren Adelman commented on how the company spotted the growing need for SSL. "Go Daddy entered the SSL certificate space eight years ago for the same reason we became a domain name registrar and hosting provider," said Adelman. "We saw a market that was under-served, an area where we could make a difference and help customers looking to build an online presence. Having a secure website doesn't have to be complicated or expensive and I think that's the reason for our rapid growth." Go Daddy's certificates have been distributed throughout their extensive list of domains which include educational institutions, both international and domestic.
