PEER 1 Hosting Achieves Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard
PEER 1 Hosting has achieved the Level 1 Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard following an extensive audit and evaluation. The Canadian-headquartered company gained the qualification for its global managed hosting and co-location data centres after the assessment of procedures, policies, technical systems and technology infrastructure. Following the examination in which the IT hosting providers met all 12 requirements, PEER 1 Hosting can now be assured of their applications being supported in a PCI compliant environment providing them a more secure service. Fabio Banducci, President and CEO spoke of the key factors which led to his company becoming PCI DSS certified, "PEER 1 is committed to delivering IT infrastructure solutions that remove the security challenges and complexities our customers face," he commented. The PCI DSS comprises standards developed to increase payment data security and is supported by a number of payment card brands including Visa, MasterCard and American Express. Failure to meet PCI DSS certification can result in sufficient fines if there are signs of data breach due to non-compliance, making the certificate key to online retailers, hosting companies and other online organisations. "Meeting the standards set by the Payment Card Industry Security Council allows us to offer customers a single process that meets their compliance needs while allowing them to do what they do best – run their businesses." The latest news follows the recent announcement of PEER 1’s acquisition NetBenefit who already maintains a Level 1 PCI DSS.
